San Diego Comic-Con: Fun Events to Attend

The largest comic book and pop culture convention in the world, the annual event covers four days and a bonus preview night from July 17-21. The San Diego Convention Center will once again fill to capacity with more than 130,000 attendees, plus world-famous stars. From comic books and sci-fi to horror, anime, and manga, the convention now encompasses a wide range of entertainment genres.

  • Preview Night (July 17, 6-10 p.m.) Watch the world premiere screening of the Batwoman series and pilot screening of Pennyworth Plus, get sneak peeks of The 100, Rooster Teeth and more.
  • ScareDiego (July 17) returns with hosts Team Coco and Conan O’Brien introducing an offsite panel on director Andy Muschietti’s It: Chapter 2.
  • The Batman Experience Powered by AT&T (July 17-21) An immersive and interactive pop-up will show a sneak preview at “The Gathering” when Batman is inducted into the Comic-Con Museum Character Hall of Fame in Balboa Park on July 17 at 5 p.m.
  • A Conversation with the Russo Brothers (July 19, 11-11:50 a.m.) Directors Joe and Anthony Russo reflect on Endgame and beyond.
  • World Premiere: Hulu’s Veronica Mars Revival (July 19, 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.) followed by a conversation with talent, including Kristen Bell, as well as producers Diane Ruggiero-Wright and Rob Thomas.
  • Game of Thrones Panel and Q&A Session (July 19, 5:30-6:30 p.m.) Jacob Anderson as Grey Worm, John Bradley as Samwell Tarly, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth, Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei of Naath, Iain Glen as Ser Jorah Mormont, Conleth Hill as Varys, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, and Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark.
  • MARVEL COMICS: Next Big Thing (July 20, 1:45-2:45 p.m.) Writer Jonathon Hickman and Editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski announce Marvel news, including what’s next for the X-Men, with guests.
  • DC Universe Series Sneak Previews and Q&A (July 20, 7-9 p.m.) Including Titans, Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn, and Young Justice: Outsiders. Q&A session with DC producers and stars.
  • 45th Masquerade Costume Competition (July 20, 8 p.m.) showcasing approximately 100 multi-genre and original costumes.
  • Children’s Film Festival (July 21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.) with films from around the world plus talks from animators and filmmakers.
