Salute our Troops with Film
Back for its 5th year, the GI Film Festival in San Diego presents the stories of our soldiers, sailors, pilots, and military families to the silver screen. All films have all been created by, for, or about our military members, veterans, and families to help share their journies (past, current, and ongoing) with the greater SD community. The 34 films being showcased will run from this Tuesday through the 29th (Sunday) at the Museum of Photographic Arts and UltraStar Cenmas at Hazard Center. To take part in this festival, view showing times, and purchase tickets, click here to visit the festival website.
Friday, September 27th
Filling up with Foodtrucks
Don’t forget that Fridays bring all the food trucks to the park! Soak in some late afternoon sun, munch on some goodies, listen to local bands, and enjoy a beautiful sunset with samples of the best food trucks in San Diego. This revolving door of different tasting experiences is always great for the whole family – including the family dog! See you out on the Prado!
Saturday, September 28th
Walk and Run to Fight HIV
Make sure to register TODAY for the AIDS Walk and Run San Diego taking place this Saturday (registration closing tonight). Join thousands in raising funds to support all San Diegans living with HIV during this fun 4-mile walk/run through Hillcrest and Balboa. Opening ceremonies start at 7 am before the run and walk take-off (7:30 and 7:45 am, respectively). Click here to download the course map, register for the run, and learn more about how and who this walk/run supports.
Sunday, September 29th
Celebrate World Sake Day together this Sunday with over 15 breweries from around Japan and California! The festival kicks off with the traditional Kagami birai (sake barrel opening) ceremony and will feature a diverse assortment of sakes and foods to try. Along with sampling brews with your own sake ochoco (sake glass), meet and learn from sake brewers and sommeliers to better understand how sake is made and what to look for in the perfect cup. I hope to see you out there from 2 – 6 pm! Click here to learn more about this event and to purchase tickets.
As always, tune in every week for ways to live long and get out and about in San Diego!
