Hands-on with Horses
This week’s Fun Animal Friday brings miniature horses to the Children’s Discovery Museum and a hands-on workshop to learn about these animals, listen to stories about them, and then meet them. If mini horse posters line your little one’s walls or if they’re just interested in learning about and meeting every animal around, make your way down to this hour-long event before it’s gone.

Get an in on Angling
Learn from the pros and show your stuff for this year’s 25th Annual Youth Fishing Derby. Lake Poway is fresh-stocked and ready for youths 15 and younger to compete to see who is the best angler in the San Diego area. Prizes, BBQ, food trucks, games, entertainment, and bounce houses will help make this a fun way to get out and enjoy a bright Saturday morning on the lake for the whole family. Interested in joining in on the competition? Make sure to register for the event and check out more information about parking, amenities, and more.
Also, make sure to check out the Youth Fishing Derby Seminar and Campout on Friday, January 31st. Munch on some pizza while pros demonstrate how to rig lines and teach proper fishing techniques before setting camp and enjoying a night at the lake. Make sure to register at Lake Poway Concession or online before attending and review camping vehicle fees ($15/car).
Museums, Museums, Museums
Museum month is right around the corner and your ticket to 50% off admission at any San Diego Museum Council member museum is available at local libraries, participating Macy’s, and to those staying at Hilton hotels in the San Diego area. San Diego Museum Month passes that grant you the aforementioned discount are available to you at no cost, so if you’re a history buff, gem expert, science hero, or art connoisseur, grab a pass and get moving to check museums off your visit list.
Have a great time out there San Diegans and remember to Live Long in SD!
