Tuesday, August 6th
National Night Out promises to be a fun, informational, and family-friendly way to spend a beautiful summer night in Kimball Park. This event (6 to 9 pm) will feature squad cars and various other emergency vehicles, safety demonstrations (including the ‘Jaws of Life’ being used on a car!), face painting, a rodeo, K9 demonstrations, games, and the movie “The Greatest Showman” to round out the night. Starting on the 7th and ending the 11th, the annual Oceanside International Film Festival is back to infuse your evening with excitement, drama, laughter, and intrigue. As in previous years, the Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation has paired with the Sunshine Brooks Theater to host and show films featuring a range of eclectic artists. Saturday, August 10th
Wheels in Motion
Get ready to rev those engines because the National City Automobile Heritage Day Festival and Car Show back again! Over 200 classic, custom, and antique cars will be on display from 10 am to 3 pm in Kimball Park. Live entertainment, food, a kids play area, and free EV test drives will be available alongside the car show to keep you entertained during the event. Early car registration costs $25 and $30 the day of the event; early bird registration also includes a special t-shirt and dash plaque unavailable the day of.
Art for All!
Starting on Saturday (10 am to 6 pm) and ending on Sunday (10 am to 5 pm), the ArtWalk @ Liberty Station promises to be a gorgeous event for the entire family. Admission is free and parking is abundant, so come out for a celebration of visual, musical, and interactive art in the beautiful Ingram Plaza. A Doggo’s Dream
Grab your hooman and get to Cardiff for the 14th Annual “Cardiff Dog Days of Summer” event. Located in the Encinitas Community Park, dog-related vendors including rescue groups, adoption agencies, and more will be set up and ready for puppos from 10 am to 5 pm. Food, libations, live music, dog contests, and fun for the kids will also be featured during this event. Don’t miss out! Block parties and thumping dance music on your mind? Luckily for you, Hillcrest’s annual CityFest street fair is only 6 days away! “Pride-Light” will be featuring live music on two stages, food, drinks, and arts along 5th, Robinson, and University starting at noon until 11 pm. Some Enchanted Evening
Part of the San Diego Symphony’s Bayside Summer Nights program, Broadway hits from Rodgers, Hammerstein, and Hart will feature two-time Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes, Jason Danieley, and the San Diego Master Chorale on August 16th and 17th at 7:30 pm. Both performances will be at the Embarcadero Marina Park South and range in price from $24-93 per ticket (subject to change). Party with the Best of San Diego!
Presented by the Valley View Casino and Hotel, this 21 and over party will be featuring San Diego Magazine’s 2019 Best of San Diego with gourmet food and drinks from around the city. Interactive art, dancing, and featured pop-up shops more your speed, get into these along with a great cocktail or craft beer from local distilleries and breweries. Restoring a Masterpiece
On August 23rd from 7-8 pm, join art lovers from around San Diego during a Bacc Lecture at the James S. Copley Auditorium during an in-depth discussion about the restoration of Francisco de Zurbaran’s Virgin and Child with The Young Saint John the Baptist.
