Get Out and About this Autumn in SD!

Fall nights have brought a slight chill in the air, but don’t worry, there are lots of ways to warm up by getting Out and About in SD! This October edition of Out and About in San Diego brings art, film, theater, festivals, and more to your fingertips. Choose wisely, because your week just got a whole lot more exciting!

Monday, October 7th

Kiss Some Aztec Before Time Runs Out!

The hilarious musical experience “Kiss My Aztec!” will only be at the La Jolla Playhouse until October 12th, and you do not want to miss out! This tongue-in-cheek story is heralded as the Latino Book of Mormon by The San Diego Union-Tribune and will have you in stitches from start to finish. Thursday, October 10th

Feed Your Inner Artist

Exceptional art will be available for your viewing pleasure along the harbor waterfront this Thursday through Sunday during Art San Diego. Held at the San Diego Convention Center, local, national, and international artwork and live entertainment will be on full display for all looking to inject color into their week. Tickets run $20 per person, though VIP entry will afford a preview reception with proceeds benefitting various non-profits partnering with Art San Diego. Click here to learn more.

Taste of Coronado

Indulge your senses by taking a culinary trip with 29 different restaurants from around Coronado Island. Orange Avenue will become a tasting extravaganza for interested foodies from 5 to 9 pm. Time is running out to purchase your tickets to ‘A Taste of Coronado’ this Thursday the 10th, so make sure to reserve them now before this culinary treat is over.

Oktoberfest, Ocean Beach-style

Saturday, October 12th

Show your Pride by the Beach!

In honor of National Coming Out Day, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center will be holding Pride by the Beach at the Civic Center Plaza in Oceanside to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride. This family-friendly event will feature music, an educational walk with the Lambda Archives, performances by local talents, including a headline performance by Ada Vox, and more! Taste of North Park

Hot on the heels of Coronado, North Park will be featuring the best of this eclectic neighborhood’s restaurants and beer from 11 am to 3 pm this Saturday. North Park is known for its interesting eats and knock out breweries, so this is the perfect chance to make sure you get a little bit of everything they have to offer. Art and Wine for a Good Time

Enjoy paintings, 3D chalk art displays, interactive murals, music, food, and, of course, wine on the 12th and 13th in La Jolla for the La Jolla Art and Wine Festival. Sunday, October 13th

Rock out to Almost Famous

Kicking off on Sunday, Almost Famous is coming to The Old Globe theater from October 13th through the 27th. Rollback to 1973 with this rock-and-roll musical from Cameron Crowe, directed by Tony Award-winning Jeremy Herrin, featuring new music by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tom Kitt. San Diego International Film Festival

Enjoy the best of over 200 filmmakers from around the world descending on San Diego from the 15th through the 20th. Don’t miss your chance to see the globe through the lens of these renowned cinematographers. Make sure to plan out your week and acquire your festival passes before spots fill up! Triathalon Challenge

The San Diego Triathalon Challenge is back for its 26th year in La Jolla. For those up to the challenge, participants will undertake a 1-mile swim, 44-mile bike ride, and 10-mile run, all the while supporting the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) mission of empowering individuals living with physical challenges through sports. North Park Day of the Dead Festival

Celebrate National Day of the Dead (several days early) with a North Park celebration on the 26th. Come out to honor and celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed during these colorful festivities. Crafts, face painting, music, and educational events will be plentiful.
